Acciones en casa (Actions at Home) brings together a hundred or so micro-actions carried out in a house in the El Ensanche neighbourhood of Barcelona. The point they all have in common is at the same time the main defining characteristic of the collaborative work of the artists: intelligent humour linked to ideas of the fragility and unimportance of living actions. The actions, executed by the artists with an ease that comes of being in the private space of a house, are all numbered and named. Underlying all of them is a reference that varies from a nod towards certain iconic moments in the history of art in the 20th century taken from Surrealism, Dada, Fluxus, conceptual art or the works of artists like Bruce Nauman, Oskar Schlemmer, Alexander Calder and Fischli & Weiss, to elements of the collective imaginary and pop culture – jokes by Pepe Viyuela and the duo Martes y Trece, the song Eso no es amor (obsesión) by Monchy y Alexandra – via references to cinema, such as the works of Georges Méliès.
Acciones en casa shows the desire to archive, based on the huge number of underlying references in the actions, but also a desublimating critical sense based in humour, parody and irony, common to works by a generation of artists who, like Bestué-Vives, are revising the theatrical strategies of the post-war neo-avant-gardes.
