In recent years, David Bestué (Barcelona, 1980) has realised a series of sculpture projects which critically review certain historical events and aesthetic/formal developments characterising last century’s avant-garde movements in the fields of art, architecture and literature.

For the exhibition ROSI AMOR, put together specifically for the Fissures programme, the artist sets forth a material and formal investigation, drawing inspiration from the Madrid districts of Las Tablas and Vallecas, and the nearby El Escorial Monastery. Each of these places bears associations with different sculpture techniques, identified, in turn, in the aesthetics of business, the popular and the historical.

Concert series. Archipelago 2017

Archipelago is a new series of concerts that views listening at once as a form of knowledge and aesthetic enjoyment. It invites the audience to “listen” to sound compositions and experimentations without applying any historical or geographical order, letting airtight compartments expand, allowing connections between heterogenous languages and contexts to flourish.

In this, the first edition, Archipelago is enveloped in drone and minimalist music, exploring its influences and unexpected offshoots. The programme welcomes veterans of composition to artists from younger generations.

Documentary exhibition. Violence in War and Peace

Violence in War and Peace presents the publications from roughly thirty artists that range from the book Kriegsfibel (1955) by Bertolt Brecht and its “sequel” War Primer 2 (2011) by Oliver Chanarin and Adam Broomberg, to the recent work “Oh God”, He Said, Talking to a Tree (2010) by Walid Raad. Whether the terrifying violence is represented in a brutally direct fashion or through intimate, almost poetic images, all of these works denounce the dreadful threat of terror, the effects of which are, independent of possible causes, of comparable horror for any human being.
